“Bespoke Denim”
Nothing makes a person feel more special than something custom made, completely unique, and created just for them. Blue Delta’s goal is to give each person that one of a kind feeling. Out of Tupelo, Mississippi, Josh West and Nick Weaver created the company Blue Delta with the goal of handcrafting each and every customer their perfect pair of jeans. Jeans are not just a classic clothing item in the south, but rather a staple fashion piece in everyone’s closet. To dress up or down, you need a pair of jeans for every occasion, so why wouldn’t you want them ideally tailored just for you.
Blue Delta built their business around an older European term, bespoke, which in Josh’s words is a fancy word for “made from scratch”. Every pair of Blue Delta jeans has its own unique pattern for each unique body. Customers have the ability to either come in and meet with a tailor to get fitted for their exact measurements, or if the distance is too far they can create their ideal jeans online. Regardless of which path the customer decides to take, the process behind the creation of the pants is exactly the same with the exact same precision.
The key to a good clothing item is its craftsmanship and structural integrity, and this can only be done by the most skilled of hands. A huge draw to the industry for Josh and Nick was the underutilization of the surplus of talented seamstresses in Mississippi. Josh and Nick saw that this was an art that is dying as so many clothing items are now mass manufactured outside of the United States. Just like each pair of jeans is unique, so is each Blue Delta seamstress. They each have a portion of the crafting process that they excel in. Being touched by so much individual talent just makes each jean that much more special. Each employee brings something different to the table that the company and the customers benefit from. According to Josh, Blue Delta wouldn’t be able to thrive as it is in any other state besides Mississippi due to these talented individuals who they are blessed to have.
This idea of bespoke and a handmade movement is something many people are reverting back to. There's something about the care that goes into a handmade product people are craving. Blue Delta also see’s a shift in customers wanting quality over quantity. In almost all cases, anything handmade is going to be more expensive due to the time and level of material being used and there is no cutting corners when it comes to a personal design. People are craving items nowadays that will last the test of time and benefit them for years to come and that is what Blue Delta guarantees.
What makes Blue Delta different from other custom jean companies is, “how it’s made, where it’s made, who’s making it, and what it’s made with”, according to Josh. Many other fashion companies do not want to talk about where their materials are coming from or how it is created but rather focus on the glitz and the glam of the eye-catching designs. What stands Blue Delta apart is their appreciation and acknowledgement of the heart of the product. Each pair is made with intention with the highest quality materials from around the world, from Europe and Asia to the US. Another thing that sets Blue Delta apart is its ability to identify across such a wide variety of people. Josh mentioned, “There's very few brands out there that Morgan Freeman and Nicole Kidman share in their own closets”. Blue Delta’s ability to resonate and appeal to such a wide audience is a unique gift that many companies strive for but might not achieve.
From athletes to artists, these jeans will fit any body, any shape, man, or woman because it’s unique. No patterns are being pulled off the wall and made to fit the customer, but each customer is the pattern the jeans are made for. So many amazing people and products come out of Mississippi and Blue Delta has the best of both. There is nothing quite like the drive Mississippians have to create and imagine. That is why Mississippi has always had an appreciation for handmade products. With that in mind, it’s companies like Blue Delta that put us on the map.
